How’d I get here? From Artist, to Educator, to Instructional Designer - why the change? You might ask, and perhaps a more telling question, what is the through line? The constant for me is my love for learning, visual design, and creating experiences that open doors for others.
I come from a family of educators, and grew up in a house where helping others learn was deeply valued, which led me into the field of education. During my time in the classroom, I honed skills that directly support effective learning design—like curriculum development, learner engagement, and visual communication.
As a teacher, I designed learner-centered experiences that supported diverse needs, built autonomy, and made complex ideas more accessible through the use of visuals. The shift to online learning in 2020 deepened my expertise in asynchronous design, self-paced learning tools, and educational technology.
Today, I bring those same strengths—creativity, clarity, and learner-center design—to the development of eLearning experiences that are engaging, accessible, and aligned with organizational goals.
My drive: As a teacher and professional, I have noticed that not everyone has been given the same learning opportunities necessary for career development, yet many possess the desire and capacity for growth and advancement. I would like to use my ability to make engaging eLearning experiences to help bridge the gap between where a person is and where they want to be.
The fun stuff: When I’m not designing, you’ll likely find me outside—running the trails, paddle-boarding the lakes, biking around the city, or swimming at the beach. My husband Matt and I love getting out for local outdoor adventures. I also spend a good amount of time at the yoga studio, taking and teaching hot yoga classes, and trying to keep all of my houseplants alive, with mixed success.
What I bring to the table
A minimal, learner-focused visual design style that reduces cognitive overload
The ability to simplify complex ideas with clarity and precision.
A creative mindset, fueled by my background as a visual artist, always seeking fresh, innovative learning experiences.
Empathy born from experience—having navigated multiple roles, I understand the learner’s perspective and design with their success in mind.
